Pregnant woman dies in crash, baby in intensive care following emergency surgery

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR/Gray News) - A Rockford woman who was eight months pregnant died this week in a crash in Belvidere Township.

According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, Whitney Camp, 24, was a enger in one of the vehicles involved in a crash on Tuesday at the intersection of Spring Creek and Shaw roads.

Loved ones said the 24-year-old died on impact, with her baby being rushed to the hospital that afternoon.

Family shared through a GoFundMe that Camp’s newborn baby girl had to be delivered in emergency surgery and placed into the NICU.

Camp’s 1-year-old son, along with her mother and grandmother, were also injured in the crash but expected to survive.

Loved ones thanked the community for the they have received, but said losing Camp has been unimaginable.

“She was only 24, and her sudden loss has left our entire family shattered,” Jordin Camp, Whitney Camp’s brother, said. “The baby’s father also needs prayers as he is alongside ing his baby who is fighting for her life.”

Family said the money raised will help cover funeral expenses for Whitney Camp, care and for her children and family.
