Marshal’s office launches fan drive to help people during summer months
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Richmond County Marshal’s office is hosting its annual fan drive as it can be difficult to keep cool in the summer if you are a senior, have low-income or have medical conditions.
“During the summer months, temperatures rise, and elderly people with medical conditions and low income are more prone to risk for heat exposure,” said Monica Myers, LT. over community services and training.
22-year-old arrested for aggravated assault in Washington County
The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred on March 27 at around 5:30 p.m. at the 3000 block of Mayview Road.

You can donate fans from now until June 23 at the marshal’s office on Deans Bridge Road or the Augusta Municipal Building on Telfair Street.
“Every encounter with a citizen is an opportunity to make a positive impact,” said Marshal Ramone Lamkin. “Through this drive, we’re not only helping people stay cool—we’re also strengthening community ties and showing what it means to care for one another.”
