Summer pattern holding steady: hot, humid, and chance for late day storms. Hotter next week with heat index 100+!
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Our persistent pattern is going to continue today and into the weekend featuring seasonal highs and chance for late day storms. Next week looks hotter with above average highs and slightly lower storm chances.
Mostly cloudy start today with low rain chances. Widely scattered showers and storms will be possible in the late afternoon and early evening. Severe risk will remain low - rain chances could last past sunset. There is a low risk for flash flooding due to the potential for slow moving storms. High temperatures will remain near average in the upper 80s to near 90°. Heat index values will be elevated in the mid to upper 90s. Wind will be out of the southwest between 5-10 mph.
Storm chances continue into the weekend - mainly afternoon and evening time frame. Scattered afternoon storms look possible Saturday and Sunday with highs near 90. Slightly breezier Saturday with southwest winds sustained between 8-12 mph with higher gusts. Heat index values will be closer to 100°.
Next week starts to get hotter with above average highs. Highs will stay in the low 90s Monday, but increase to the mid-90s by the middle of next week - heat index will max out between 100-105.
