Students get into fight at Richmond County Summer School

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A group of students at Richmond County Summer School at the Laney site got into a fight on Tuesday, according to a letter sent to families by Principal Adrianne Bogans.

A large group of students got into a fight in the bus loading zone during dismissal, the letter says.

Bogans said Richmond County School System Police immediately intervened and deployed pepper spray to break up the altercation.

Search continues for woman who wandered off after crash

The search continues on Thursday for a missing woman who wandered into the woods after a car crash.

A multi-agency search was underway for Susan Rhodes, who was missing after a car crash.

Several students were taken into custody, and the incident was addressed following the Code of Student Conduct and Discipline, according to the letter.

“Our school system strives to maintain a safe academic atmosphere where all students can learn and grow. Incidents of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our school. As a reminder, if you or your child(ren) have any safety concerns about our school, please report them to the school or call our Safety Tip Line at (706) 828-1077. Thank you for your partnership and of the Richmond County School System,” said Bogans in the letter.
