7-year-old drowns while snorkeling in pool, authorities say
MORGAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) - A 7-year-old boy in Ohio drowned Wednesday while he was snorkeling in a pool, according to authorities.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said the child was identified as Ian Pequignot.
Officials said Ian was swimming with several other children under adult supervision at a pool on Timber Walk Lane in Morgan Township around 2:30 p.m. that day.
Eventually, Ian’s mother said she did not see him resurface from snorkeling.
Deputies said she jumped into the deep end of the pool to save him.
The Morgan Township Life Squad attempted to save Ian’s life.
He was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning.
