NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Soon, athletes across the South Carolina High School League will step onto new ground when they face off against teams in the Aiken County Public School District.

As of Tuesday night, the long-awaited completion of the North Augusta High School Athletic Complex is finally within sight.

The sod is in, the indoor batting cages are up, the grand stands are waiting for spectators as is the press box. The addition of scoreboards will finally complete the project, and they’re expected to be in place before the Fall semester.

With Wagener-Salley opening the new school, next up on the ticket, is athletics. The school originally looked at adding just a baseball and softball field, that has now expanded to a football stadium.

The more than $15.6 million project will have the stadium placed on campus adjacent to the softball and football fields. It would also come along with concession and restroom areas, as well as rooms for both the home team and visitors.

J.O. Brown stadium plans to hold 1,200 spectators.

Near the baseball and softball fields, Wagener-Salley schematic design shoes an updated 8-lane track along the practice field.

Crescent City Park is also planned to be on the same property.

This project is still in the design phase with an estimated completion date for softball and baseball to be January 2027, the football field will follow in June 2027.
