S.C. attorney general issues warning ahead of weekend protests
COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is issuing a new warning ahead of possible planned protests this weekend.
In a statement released Tuesday, Wilson said his office has seen “reports indicating potential coordinated protests and acts of civil disobedience” for Saturday, which is President Donald Trump’s birthday as well as Flag Day.

A new state law aims to reduce utility-digging damages across the Palmetto State, and hold companies able when damage happens.

Wilson referenced ongoing immigration protests in Los Angeles, saying that groups “are organizing efforts that have the potential to disrupt public spaces, and provoke confrontation with law enforcement across the country.”
The attorney general added that violence, vandalism and attempts to intimidate law enforcement will not be tolerated.

The man set to be executed Friday for a South Carolina murder case with Augusta ties is filing a federal lawsuit over the state’s execution practices.

“Let me be clear: If you attack law enforcement, destroy public or private property, or endanger lives in our state, you will be arrested, charged, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Wilson said Tuesday.
Wilson said his office is also working with state, local and federal law enforcement to monitor threats and response efforts.
“South Carolina is a law and order state,” said Wilson. “And it’s going to stay that way.”

We have seen reports indicating potential coordinated protests and acts of civil disobedience planned for Saturday, June 14, Flag Day and President Donald J. Trump’s birthday.
Radical anti-American groups are organizing efforts that have the potential to disrupt public spaces, and provoke confrontation with law enforcement across the country.
Violence, vandalism, and any attempts to intimidate or obstruct law enforcement will not be tolerated in South Carolina.
Let me be clear: If you attack law enforcement, destroy public or private property, or endanger lives in our state, you will be arrested, charged, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
My office will actively coordinate with state, local, and federal law enforcement to monitor threats, and response efforts.
Please report any tips or information relating to potential riots or crime this weekend to local law enforcement agencies.
