AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A FIRST ALERT is in effect today for the chance of scattered severe thunderstorms.

The main concern will be thunderstorms capable of damaging straight-line winds in excess of 60 mph, but hail and an isolated tornado are possible. Timing looks to be late afternoon through late tonight. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms. Everyone in the CSRA has the chance to see strong to severe storms.

Drier and less humid weather returns Tuesday through Thursday. We could still see a few isolated storms Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.
