AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A FIRST ALERT is in effect Sunday and Monday for the chance of severe storms. Make sure you’re staying weather aware for the weekend. Active pattern sticks around into next week.

The main concern will be thunderstorms capable of damaging straight-line winds in excess of 60 mph and quarter-sized or larger hail. A few different waves of storms are anticipated over the next few days that could contain strong to severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the CSRA, including Augusta and Aiken, in its Slight Risk (2/5) for severe thunderstorms Sunday and Monday, with damaging winds and large hail the main concerns.
