Troopers say a tractor-trailer was heading east on the highway at the same time a Chevy Colorado was also heading east.

Deputies said the tractor-trailer struck the Colorado’s rear bumper with its front bumper, forcing the Colorado into the westbound lane and then into the path of a Dodge Dart driven by Dixon, where they hit head-on.

Dixon was fatally injured and pronounced dead by the coroner, according to officials.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Thursday that the driver of the tractor-trailer was arrested on May 28 and charged with misdemeanor homicide by vehicle, second degree.

The crash was one of four that claimed four lives within 18 hours in the CSRA.
