Finding Solutions: Local group makes flowers for everyone
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Flowers are something that can put a smile on someone’s face, whether you’re receiving or giving them.
For one local group, they’re making bouquets to bring to nursing homes, shelters and hospitals.
They’re now finding solutions in asking the community to consider donating their leftover flowers from weddings and events in order to brighten someone else’s day.
Deputies respond to car crash that ends in Wagener pond
Law enforcement is responding to an accident in which a car ended up in a Wagener pond, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

These flowers are made with a lot of care and are going to some very special people in our area.
“These are going to go to hospice patients that a part of Enhabit Augusta. To be able to be with them and spend time with them and see how full of joy they still are, it’s a great thing,” said Patricia Proctor, co-owner of El Rey and founder of non-profit Corazón Bonito. “The non-profit is named Corazón Bonito, which translates to ‘beautiful heart’ in English, which we founded in 2023. We always try to do things through the restaurant with the community, but having a non-profit helps do it in a wider aspect, so this was a dream we wanted to do, and finally we made it happen.”
They host back-to-school bashes, help feed those in need alongside Com for Hope every Sunday, and most recently helped put together a tea party for hospice patients on Mother’s Day.
New details released in fatal Washington County crash
We are learning more about a car crash that left one person dead in Washington County on Tuesday.

“This has been my lifelong dream. Having the business is amazing because it opened a lot of doors for us, but having something where you can give back to the community that gave back to us, because we grew up here, so it’s amazing to give back to our community,” said Proctor.
Corazón Bonito is now asking you if you have any leftover flowers from a wedding or event to consider donating them to them so that they can repurpose them for someone else.
“Flowers are beautiful, and I think when you’re getting married, you put so much effort and love to picking out the stuff you’re getting, especially the flowers, so I feel like they have a lot of intention and good heart, so it would be sad to see them go to waste,” said Proctor.
They’ll then go to nursing homes, hospitals, hospice patients and more, all to brighten someone’s day.
Authorities still working to solve 2022 Bamberg killing of 37-year-old
It's been nearly three years since 37-year-old Latoya McMillan was shot dead on Ho Street in Bamberg. Authorities still haven't caught her killer.

“The name says it all. I feel like we all have a Corazón Bonito, and no matter how small or big, you can do an initiative. I think that’s the best way you can do it,” said Proctor.
If you would like to donate flowers, they’re able to pick them up.
Right now, they have received some donations and purchased a lot of the flowers, but with it being wedding season, they felt this was another way the community could what they’re doing.
