AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A collision that left a 58-year-old man dead on Mike Padgett Highway makes the second deadly crash in Augusta this week.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Andrew Mark Pregel IV, of Augusta.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened on the 3700 block of Mike Padgett Highway on Wednesday morning.

Pregel died at the scene and the driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital, according to deputies.

The coroner’s office says Pregel was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Around 8:40 a.m., a tow truck was seen lifting a car onto the bed of the truck.

Man wanted for elder exploitation arrested in Florida, returned to Augusta

A man wanted in Richmond County for charges involving the exploitation of his step-grandfather was arrested in Florida.

As of 9:10 a.m., the scene was cleared, according to a News 12 crew on scene.

This is the second deadly crash in Augusta this week.

On Monday, 8-year-old Camden Poole was killed in a crash on Peach Orchard and Tobacco roads.
