AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Temperatures staying warmer than average through the weekend. It will be mostly dry through Saturday before a strong front brings the chance for storms Sunday morning. Severe weather looks possible Sunday morning - we’ve issued a FIRST ALERT to keep you prepared and updated.

A mix of clouds and sunshine with highs in the upper 70s this afternoon. South winds between 4-8 mph.

Saturday will be even warmer and wind will start to get a little breezy. Highs in the afternoon will reach the low to mid-80s under partly cloudy skies. Wind will be out of the south between 10-15 mph. Looking mostly dry during the day Saturday with very high pollen counts.

Strong to severe thunderstorms look possible Sunday as the main front brings in a line of thunderstorms before lunchtime. Strong damaging winds looks to be the main concern with storms, but localized flooding and isolated tornadoes are possible. Timing of storms looks most likely in the morning - starting between 4-6 AM -with clearing later in the afternoon. The severe threat is much higher for areas west of the CSRA Saturday and Saturday night. By the time the line reaches the CSRA early Sunday there should be less severe potential., but conditions will be close to being conducive for severe weather to occur. Gusts outside of thunderstorms will be capable of gusting up to 40 mph - but the stronger gusts will be associated with the storms moving through early in the day potentially up to 50-60 mph. Back to sunny and spring-like weather by next Monday for St. Patrick’s Day - highs will be near 70. Skies stay sunny and temperatures continue to warm into the middle of next week. Highs will be near 80 by next Wednesday.
