Ga. teen’s family relieved accused killer is back behind bars
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The man accused of killing a pregnant Georgia teen is facing new charges.
20-year-old Jesus Monroy, who was out on bond, now faces charges of sexual abuse tied to the case.
Campos’ family and local advocates have been fighting for Monroy’s bond to be revoked since it was granted last August.

Keontae Grider was a young father who was killed while on the clock at the Amazon fulfillment center in Pooler off Triple B Road on Jan. 13.

They’ve held countless protests in front of the Gwinnett County Courthouse.
“There are no words for me to explain how I feel but my soul is gone. I don’t have no more soul,” said Mia’s father, Edward Campos.
Monroy is accused of killing 16-year-old Mia Campos who was seven months pregnant with his child.
“Because it was not only just one murder it was two. It was my daughter and my grandchild and for them to put $56,000 for two lives it was not fair,” Campos said regarding his bond.
Investigators continue to search for teen suspect wanted in Augusta murder
Investigators are still searching for a 16-year-old suspect wanted in connection to the weekend murder of a 32-year-old on Cooney Circle as of Monday morning.

Monroy was arrested Thursday and taken in on new charges of statutory rape, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
That’s in addition to a lengthy list of other charges including felony murder and feticide connected to the murder last July.
“I pray to God there’s not going to be bond this time. Hopefully he can stay there,” said Campos.
The Gwinnett County District Attorney’s office says new evidence led to the additional charges.

Since mid-April, there’s been a wave of homicides and other sweeping the CSRA. Although as the largest city, Augusta has been hit especially hard, the crime wave is affecting places large and small.

The District Attorney’s Office said, “We are going to allow this case to move through the process. We will work diligently to get justice for the family of Mia Campos and her unborn child.”
Campos says they will continue to fight to ensure Monroy stays behind bars.
“That’s what I’m still fighting for and I’m going to fight all the way to the end. That’s what my point is he needs to stay there,” he said.
The case is now in the superior courts.
Monroy is currently being held without bond.
