AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Home and business owners are still in need of help five months after Hurricane Helene.

The deadline to apply for assistance through FEMA has ed, but there are still ways to get help.

FEMA along with the Small Business istration, Department of Public Health, and representatives from local housing communities finished a full day of helping families at the Henry Bringham Community Center on Saturday.

Over 200 pre-dental students and 100 volunteers gathered at the Dental College of Georgia on Saturday for the 26th annual Impressions Day Program.

SBA extended its deadline for low-interest loans through the end of March.

This is not only for business owners but also homeowners waiting on their insurance company before making repairs.

The loans up to $50,000 require no collateral and do not accrue interest for a year.

“For this area, this is very new for people. Recovery is continuing. Unfortunately, recovery is not a sprint, it is a marathon. We have so many people show up to these events like today that tells us people are continuing to recover, and we want them to know that we will still be here and help them with their recovery,” said Nikki Gaskin Campbell, media relations specialist for FEMA.

While the deadline for FEMA has ed, those who did apply for assistance before the deadline still have time to submit missing documents for aid.
