Finding Solutions: ‘Spread the Love’ campaign begins at Golden Harvest
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Golden Harvest Food Bank is spreading the love this February and they’re calling on you at home.
They’re looking for people to host a food or funds drive at your schools, businesses, churches and neighborhoods to help eliminate hunger in our communities.
Golden Harvest is finding solutions to continue its mission year-round.
“It’s really neat to see how they do everything. How organized they are and how much they are committed to helping people,” said Brock Bailey, a student at Augusta Christian Schools.

An organization centered around helping families is getting ready to celebrate a huge milestone.
Third and 10th graders at Augusta Christian were able to get a first-hand look inside Golden Harvest Food Bank all while giving back.
Students created Valentine’s Day cards that will go into senior food boxes this month.
“It kind of makes me feel like you’re really doing something to help somebody like you’re being the hands and feet of God and spreading his love,” said Jack Hill, another student at Augusta Christian.
Golden Harvest is kicking off its Spread the Love campaign, encouraging the community to their mission.
Priscilla Elliott, public affairs specialist for Golden Harvest Food Bank, said: “We just want to show some more love to our community by having people start a fund drive or food drive to get more for those in need.”

When you’re sick, you want to get to the clinic as soon as you can, but that’s simply not possible for everyone based on where you live.
Elliott says the community’s involvement is essential and they rely heavily on volunteers, especially this time of year.
“After the holidays, we are still seeing a need in our community for people who need food , but we have seen a small decrease in our volunteers. So, we are trying to get more people involved and let them know we are still here. There are still people who need help, and we are going to do all we can along with the community to help those people,” she said.
And for the students, they were able to see the impact you’re making when you do something for others.
“I feel like by volunteering it just like really amplifies how willing we are to serve,” said Hill.
