“This will be a transformational project that will elevate and amplify our national profile and serve as a point of pride for the university,” said USC Director of Athletics Jeremiah Donati. “Once complete, the stadium project will generate new revenue streams that will help provide a sustainable future for all of our Gamecock athletics programs and offer our fans and donors with a first-class game day experience.”

Populous was chosen as the architectural design firm, USC said.

According to Populous’ website, some of the other projects in the architectural design firm’s portfolio are the Sphere in Las Vegas and Truist Park in Atlanta.

Next, a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) will be issued by the university for the project’s construction manager, USC added. USC will return to the Committees later in the year for “formal approval on the full scope and cost of the project.”
