FEMA centers in Georgia closing for 2 days because of weather
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - All of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Georgia disaster recovery centers will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday in anticipation of possible snow and ice.
News 12 meteorologists have declared a First Alert Weather Day for Tuesday with a forecast of bitter cold and up to 3 inches of snow.
The two-day closure comes after a closure on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day but also as the deadline is nearing for Hurricane Hele victims to apply for assistance.

Normal operations for centers will resume Thursday.
During the closure, you can still apply or check your application status on DisasterAssistance.gov.
You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or by calling toll-free 800-621-3362. The telephone line is open every day and help is available in most languages. You can also the Georgia Call Center at 678-547-2861 Monday through Saturday for assistance with your application.
The deadline to apply for aid is Jan. 28 in South Carolina, but Georgians have until Feb. 7.
Meanwhile, the FEMA centers in Screven and Wilkes counties have closed permanently.
