Wilkes County sheriff investigates weekend gunfire
WASHINGTON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person who fired several gunshots at a car over the weekend.
Around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, deputies were sent to the Edward B. Pope Conference Pope Center, 48B Lexington Ave. in Washington, to investigate reports of gunfire.

When deputies conducted a welfare check Dec. 30 at a home on Rollingwood Drive, they were in for a shock.

Deputies found there were no injuries and the suspect had fled the scene on foot.
Deputies said seven shots were fired from a .45-caliber pistol at a small black car occupied by a female enger and the driver. Deputies said they learned multiple people had been in the car just before the shots were fired. Some of those people have been identified but not yet found, the sheriff said.
Augusta aggravated assault suspect arrested during burglary
A suspect who was wanted for an aggravated assault incident was arrested during a smash-and-grab burglary, we learned from authorities on Monday.

All of the people involved are believed to be juveniles and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
