How to prevent package theft this holiday season
Homeowners should take steps to prevent package theft now.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The holidays are right around the corner and if you’re ordering packages online, it’s a good time to make a plan so that those packages don’t wind up in the hands of porch pirates.
The Better Business Bureau is offering the following advice:
- You should consider shipping to a store instead of directly to your home.
- Sign up for a package receiving service, like Amazon lockers, that provide a secure location away from home that you can access with a key or code.
- You can require a signature at package delivery.
- Install a security camera. You should choose one that is highly visible to deter thieves, and even consider placing a sign out that informs people they are under surveillance.
- Sign up for Informed Delivery so you know when a package is coming.
