HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two fifth-grade students at North Harlem Elementary School were found with knives and nicotine vapes on a school bus on Thursday, according to school officials.

In a letter sent home to parents, school officials say s were notified Thursday afternoon that two students were reportedly smoking what appeared to be a vaping device while on the school bus.

An 18-year-old Grovetown High School student was arrested over a video that showed the teenager holding a gun, apparently in a school restroom.

The students were removed from the bus, according to officials. Upon further investigation, two knives and two vaping devices, which tested positive for nicotine, were discovered, school officials say.

Both students are being held able according to the code of conduct and the law, according to the school.

“Red Ribbon Week is taking place next week and we encourage our parents to take this time to talk to their students about the dangers of smoking and drugs,” said the school.
