School leaders hold ribbon cutting for new Westmont Elementary
EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Columbia County school officials cut the ribbon on the new Westmont Elementary School on Thursday.
The school opened for students more than two weeks ago after it was delayed by construction.
Officials say the school has new technology in it, like a new voice enhancement system to make announcements and other technology for students.
Lakeside High releases new school traffic pattern
Weeks after we told you about traffic causing frustrations among parents at Lakeside High School, officials released a new traffic pattern to help.

We spoke with Principal Angie Young, who says children are excited to be in a new school.
“As they got used to it, they still when they see different things they are when they are moving around the school. They are still saying ‘Oh that’s nice I haven’t seen that before,’ so teachers have made it feel like home, and welcoming. They’ve loved it,” said Young.
Columbia County Superintendent Steven Flynt said: “We’re really excited to dedicate this school to not only the students who are here now, but to many who will come in future years, as well as the entire community. We really appreciate the of this community.”
Officials say North Columbia Elementary is their next project with plans to open next year.
