SOAR Academy gifts scholarship during sensory friendly event
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - SOAR Academy hosted a sensory-friendly silent disco to raise money and gave one family a full scholarship.
The private K-12 school and tutoring center specializes in curriculum to those who are neuro-divergent.
People met with speech and occupational therapists and experts in ADHD, autism, and more.
Party goers also enjoyed summer foods and treats, a dinosaur zone, Lego station, an anime art display, and more.

We asked you to send us your back-to-school photos — and you did. Take a look at these smiles!

We spoke with Kenish Skaggs, the director and founder of SOAR Academy, about how the event helped raise money too.
“So our disco party is raising money for our forest school, which is a nontraditional environment,” she says.
There was a full scholarship giveaway for one family.
The CSRA Youth Photography Fine Arts Society helped host the event.
