AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Boys and Girls Club is kicking the summer off with another partnership to feed children.

Happy Helpings is teaming up with them to give kids in our area free healthy meals.

It’s a Georgia summer food service program.

South Carolina bonus program aims to help ease child-care crisis

The South Carolina Department of Social Services launched a new program called S.C. Boost, and it’s similar to efforts in other states that aim to child-care workers.

In addition to the meals, kids also got the chance to play hopscotch, egg toss and much more.

With school being out, this is a great resource for families in need.

“Last summer, we served 2.8 million meals throughout the state of Georgia, and we were in 100 Georgia counties,” said Cindy Kicklighter, nutrition, marketing and outreach manager.

She says Happy Helpings purpose is to make sure kids have healthy foods to eat.
