Kevin de l’Aigle withdraws from Augusta Commission race
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Kevin de l’Aigle has withdrawn his candidacy for the District 1 Augusta Commission race.
“After much consideration, I regret that I need to withdraw from candidacy for the Augusta - Richmond County District 1 Commission seat due to ongoing family concerns,” he wrote in a letter to Richmond County Board of Elections Executive Director Travis Doss.

“I realize that due to these family issues and circumstances related to my job. I would not be able to fulfill the duties of the office to the extent of my abilities or with the attention and time the county deserves.”
Doss said notices will be placed at all polling places in accordance with state law.
Monday was the last day to to vote in the May election.
On May 21, voters in Augusta-Richmond County will head to the polls to cast a vote in the general primary and nonpartisan election.
Augusta Commission candidates make their case to voters
Voters in Richmond County filled up stands at the Alleluia Community School to hear from incumbents and challengers trying to secure commission seats.

Augustans will be voting on a referendum to give the mayor an equal vote on the Augusta Commission. The mayor right now can only vote in a tie – and some commission have found ways to avoid ties by abstaining.
Any changes or updates to your registration had to be made by the end of Monday.
Advance voting will begin on Monday, April 29, in Richmond and Columbia counties.
