AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person was injured Monday at Diamond Lakes Park in a shooting – one of three in 24 hours in Augusta.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene at 2:21 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies located a subject who had been struck at least one time, deputies say.
According to officials, the victim was taken to a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
No arrest have been made for Monday’s shootings.
The park was temporarily closed but reopened Tuesday morning.
It’s been a violent 24 hours across the CSRA:
- Two people were found slain Monday in a burning house in Grovetown.
- A 19-year-old died Tuesday after a shooting near the Dogwood Terrace apartments in Augusta.
- Shots were fired Tuesday morning near an Augusta school bus stop, though no one was injured.
The incidents are part of an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 150 lives in two years across the CSRA. Communities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River.
Authorities have blamed much of the problem on gangs, and many of the victims as well as suspects have been young men.
