ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCSC) - Vice President Kamala Harris made one last swing through South Carolina a day before the state’s first-in-the-nation Democratic Presidential Primary.

Harris visited South Carolina State University in Orangeburg to headline a get-out-the-vote event Friday evening.

This comes on the final day of early voting, and the day before South Carolina’s Democratic Primary on Saturday.

Harris said South Carolina is the first primary in the nation for a reason because it’s the state that put her and President Biden on the path to the white house.

She said former president Donald Trump has made it clear his fight is not for the people but for only himself, inspiring extremists across the country.

“We face a choice, cruelty or comion, chaos or competence, division or unity, each of us has the power to answer these questions on a daily basis, and South Carolina tomorrow at the ballot box,” Harris said.

She and Biden are counting on South Carolina voters to make their voices heard in South Carolina Friday, she said.

“We each face that question, what kind of country do we want to live in. Do we want to live in a country of liberty, freedom and rule of law, or a country of disorder, fear and hate?” Harris said.

Friday’s visit isn’t Harris’s first to the Palmetto State this year. She was the keynote speaker at the NAA’s “King Day at the Dome” event on Jan. 15 in Columbia. She was also in Myrtle Beach on Jan. 6 to address the deadly attacks on the U.S. Capitol three years prior.
