Victim ID’d in fatal Orangeburg County crash

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person is dead after a single-car crash on Interstate 95 in Orangeburg County on Sunday.

According to the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office, the victim was identified as 25-year-old Saquan Powell.

At 11:42 a.m., a person driving a 2015 Infinity Q50 was going northbound on I-95 when they veered off the road and crashed into a tree, according to Lance l. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Tidwell says this happened near Exit 90, eight miles south of Santee.

Powell was pronounced died on scene due to multiple blunt force and internal injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the investigation is still ongoing.
